Rumored to increase investment in OpenAI, Microsoft announces expansion of ChatGPT access rights
Microsoft said on the 16th that it would expand ChatGPT access rights. The developer OpenAI is a startup company supported by Microsoft. OpenAI technology has been demonstrated to cloud computing customers in the Azure OpenAI project and is expected to bring a large number of new usage scenarios.
Microsoft spent $1 billion on OpenAI in 2019. Two people familiar with the matter revealed that Microsoft is considering investing an additional $10 billion, but Microsoft declined to comment on any potential transactions.
After OpenAI released ChatGPT in November last year, it attracted public testing. ChatGPT is a text-based chatbot that can write prose, poetry and even code according to instructions. Microsoft plans to let more customers apply to use the new technology.
Microsoft pointed out that not only the underlying technology of ChatGPT, but ChatGPT itself will also be launched through the Microsoft cloud system. The company is reviewing customer applications to reduce the potential for abuse, and Microsoft filters screen harmful content entered by users or potentially generated by technology.
The software's commercial potential has also led to OpenAI receiving significant investment, and some companies have used the technology to create marketing content or demonstrate how to negotiate. Microsoft said CarMax, KPMG and other companies are using Azure OpenAI services.
